Surely Thirza is Walter's daughter and James FW (aka Frederick WJ) his grandson, as shown on 1871

Hi
The only Walter on the 1871 that fits is:
RG10 Piece 2552 ED 2 Folio 45 Page 25 Sch 130
Reg District Clifton, sub Reg Dist St George
7 Gt Western Road, St George, Clifton, Glocs
WALTER DALLING Head Marr 60 Gardiner, Agr b Barnstaple, Devon
THIRZA DALLING Daur Unm 19 Machinist, Sewing b Barnstaple, Devon
LUANA DALLING Daur 17 Machinist, Sewing b Barnstaple, Devon
JAMES F W DALLING Gson 3 mths b St Georges, Glocs

No sign of his wife AGNES but I'm pretty sure the entry for Walter says Married and not Widower

This side of the Dalling family is only distantly related to my family, so is on the fringe of my tree.
So I am not sure who Walter Dalling is or where he fits.
I suspect Thursa and Luana are sisters and by 1871 their parents are deceased, hence living with Walter,
Saying they are his daughters and he is widowed to the census saves a lot of questions from the authorities.
Also, in 1871 Thursa is about 26 years, not 19 as given.

The family in 1861

If you follow this link you'll see Walter, Agnes, Thirza (aged  9) and  Susan (who is badly transcribed as Luana on 1871) all together

Sorry, I do not have familysearch.
Who are Walter and Agnes, she cannot be the grandmother Agnes who died in 1857.
Ancestry gives Thusa parents as George and Mary Dalling, deceased by the 1850's?
They are probably relatives, but what relationship?
In your previous posting they went from Barnstaple to Bristol in 6 days, trains cost in 1871.

I have only just realised you've resurrected a thread from 2005 related to Walter and Agnes Dalling and their daughter Thirza, b c1853 in the Barnstaple area

She is a different person from the Thurza who is possbily the daughter of George and Mary, b c1847 in the St Thomas area

They can both be found on the 1871 census

Also I've no idea what you mean by going from Barnstaple to Bristol in 6 days? If you mean the gap between the infant Dalling's baptism and death in 1872, that all happened in Bristol

Then your tree of the Dalling family tree is outside the parameter where I have drawn the limit.
It was the unusual name of Thirsa (Thursa) that threw us.
They are probably all related, all being likely related somewhere through George and Agnes Dalling
