An Italian ancestor
« on: Monday 07 July 08 13:02 BST (UK) »
How should I go about tracing an ancestor born in Italy (Sienna), probably in the early 1700s........ Unfortunately all the info I have is a bit vague - he was a "quack doctor" and moved to England (Nottingham) where his son was born in 1762.  His surname was Rossi, his son's name was John Charles Felix Rossi (usually known as Charles), who was a sculptor.  I've tried IGI, but can't find anything - or rather can find too many Rossies and none that seem to fit!

Am I trying to do something impossible? ???

I'd be very grateful for any help, or tips.

Many thanks

Tilly

ps - it is the father (and mother!) I am looking for - I have a lot of info about the son, John Charles Felix the sculptor, mostly thanks to RootsChat.

WHOOPS - SORRY  :-[ :-[- I should have said that I have a lot of info about the son and his brothers and sisters - mostly thanks to RootsChat!   It's the father I'm stuck on.............. I have a sneaky feeling that I once saw that his name was Roberto, but I've no idea where I got that from - maybe dreamt it.

Thank you anyway for looking him up for me and sorry again not to have been more precise.

Tilly

ps - I shall modify my opening message to make it clearer.
