you said you had the 1851-1901 census

henry is on census (I think) with mother Ann and siblings in 1851 as previously posted
do you have his parents on later census?
I think I have found them in 1861/71 (transcribed wrongly)

it looks like henry had the following siblings
Ann b. Worksop
maria b. Sheffield
Betsey b Nottingham
John b Nottingham

and a nephew John James Gregory b Yorks

do you want details of census with these children on???

or are you trying to find who they married ?

Hi Suz, Appreciate your time. Little confused with this at the moment, only just gone back onto it after doing other things.  However,  This is what I have. John Godward b 14/7/1816 Hucknall Torkard  Mother Elizabeth Spinster, but on Johns marriage cert it says Father William.  Listed with Elizabeth in Hucknall. is William Godward b1766. Did she marry him later,  a little old at 50 to be a Dad.   John married  26th Nov 1839 Wsp to Ann Spencer b 11th Dec 1821 Boughton Leics. Father Henry, Mother Ann. I believe John was missing on the 1851 census but he turns up in Ecclesall Bierlow Sheffield under Goddard. 1861.  I will try and find out who they married. If Henrys Sister Ann married James Gregory, they may be on the 1870 census or later possibly in Sheffield. If not most likely Nottingham where Henry moved to. I don't have anything on John or Ann after 1861. I have up to 1891 census for Henry and Family in Nottingham. Thank You for Your help. Appreciated. gales

I think this must be the 1861 census you have
4 ct Broomale St
Sheffield
John Goddard head M 45 Groom Hutney Torkel (Hucknall Torkard)
Ann wife 40 Loughborough
Ann daughter 19 Servant Worksop Yorks
Maria daughter 13 servant Worksop
Betsey daughter 9 scholar Nottingham
John son 5 scholar
RG9 3471 33 10

then in 1871 (Gothard this time!)
John Gothard head W 54 Horsekeeper Ollerton notts
Maria daughter U 23 Drressmaker Nottingham
Betsy daughter 17 Dressmaker Nottingham
John son 14 scholar Nottingham
John James gregory Grandson 7 scholar Kimberworth Yorks
RG10 4690 82 24

can't find james or Ann gregory in 1871?

Suz, Thanks for all the info. They appear to have moved about a lot!    I came across a James Gregory 1881 census 122 Whitham Rd Ecclesall Bierlow. head with sisters Alice,  Ann, Ann Leticia niece, Eliz Cafferey servant.  Then I came across Ann Gregory died Jan 1864. I wonder if Ann died in childbirth as John James Gregory is age 7 on the 1871 census living with Grandparents. Will have to look into this thoroughly! However I appreciate the help you have given me. Thanks Again.  gales

the James you found in 1881 is unmarried -as are his sisters!

this is a guess - but I wonder if james could be this james- as he lived in Kimberworth -and John James gregory was born Kimberworth

Sarah wife 42 Kimberworth
Thomas son 18 Iron Roller Kimberworth

JAMES son 10 Riddler at Coal pit Hill Top
Emma daughter 8 Hill Top
henry son 5 Hill Top
William son 2 Kimberworth

Hello Again, You have been busy, sounds promising but the age of James appears to differ from the 1871 census. However you have given me food for thought.  Thanks again Suz you appear to be leading me in the right direction. Appreciated.  gales
