Crossland

I wonder if anyone has any ideas to my problem

My father who died a few years ago now only every said he was born in Yorkshire, he could remember the place name because he was too young at the time. :)
He was born on 14th. Feb. 1925. His name was John Thomas Crossland. His fathers name was John Richard and I only know that because it's on my parent's wedding certificate. I know he had a younger sister (poss. Mary) who died about age 11 while in hospital for an operation on her leg.

Any help would be great.

All the best, Anne.

Hello Anne and welcome to Rootschat.

There is a birth of a John T Crossland in 1925, reference:

Jan-Mar 1925, Hemsworth 9c 379.  It also shows that his mother's maiden name was Johnson.

If you buy his birth certificate, you will then know his mother's full name and his father's occupation.  Meanwhile, I'll have a look to see if I can find a marriage for his parents.

By the way, Hemsworth is near to Pontefract in Yorkshire.

I saw the freebmd entry for 1925 and it seems to fit so I'll just have to get the birth certificate.

Thanks for all the help.

There's also another one

Jan-Mar 1930 Crossland Winifred mother's maiden name Johnson, Rotherham 9c 1128.

Can't find a marriage for their parents though.

I shall keep all these details in my file and send for the certificate of the JT birth and go from there.
I print all my information out and keep in separate family folders and go through them every few months or so and find a bit here or there fits in that when you first saw it it just baffled you.

Thanks for all the help.

All the best, Anne.
