Scrimmers Living History...Live!
« on: Thursday 10 July 08 22:06 BST (UK) »
Anyone who is in the Northamptonshire area on the weekend of 19th / 20th of July, Scrimmers is to be part of a WW1 Living History display at the "Festival of History" Kelmarsh, for English Heritage!

Scrimmers and his chums will be manning the WW1 trench system, and I will be providing the medical "overwatch"

There will be displays from ALL periods and something for everyone...From Romans to Gulf War!!!

http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.9427

So if you are in the area, pop by and say hello...You can of course check uniforms, badges and webbing with myself and my chums...Who will of course be "spot on" with accuracy!
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

Dear Scrimmers,

Only just read this but hope the weekend went well for you all.

Perhaps you can answer a question for me also!   When the D Day Veterans celebrations were on in Normandy a few years ago, my husband and I went with a group of veterans from the Sussex area (and a great bunch they were too).   In one area - I think not too far from Sword beach, we came upon a group in WWII British army uniform (I remember noting the MO was asleep on a stretcher in the noonday sun).   They were British and over there to make things a little more realistic for the visiting veterans - they did an absolutely brilliant job - one extremely elderly but spritely old chap was taken for a speedy ride around the countryside in their Jeep - he wore an enormous smile on his face for the rest of the day.

I have no idea if they were a heritage group - I imagine they were.   Would this have been "your" lot?

Sorry Sue, no not us...But I expect I know them!

I mainly do WW1 these days, but dabble in WW2 medical, as I will be doing at Detling in Sept...

I'll see what I can find out about the Living History group that were there...

Well, well - wish I'd read this before - I'd have said hi as we passed through.  You weren't by any chance the gentleman sporting a walking stick, glasses and a pipe, were you?

Great tank, by the way!

The Senior Medical Officer....

And if you we there Sunday, the one with the rakish white collar!

I'll post a pic later...

The tank is a film prop and was used in the WW1 film "Flyboys"
