Well comrades...Its that time of year again....

Time for dispalys, talks and all sorts...And maybe coming to your area!!

At the end of the month I am, with a number of chums from the Great War Society, marching all the way from Whitehall in London to Ypres in Belgium (well riding the ferry across!!).

This will be in aid of Help For Heroes

Dates and times...

WEDNESDAY, 25th APRIL:

1)  0700 hours - Start in Whitehall - walk to Imperial War museum.

2)  0800 hours - One hour stop at the IWM - reception & publicity.

3)  0900 hours - Start march, following planned route into Kent.

THURSDAY, 26th APRIL:

Marching in sections (Kent leg).

Full support enlisted en-route from pubs at rest stops!

FRIDAY, 27th APRIL:

1)  Finish march in DOVER in the morning.

2)  Reception / rest / food during the day at DOVER Fire Station.

3)  Mid - late afternoon ferry from DOVER to DUNKIRK (ferry time to be advised on the Event Sheet).

SATURDAY, 28th APRIL:

1)  0700 hours - Start march (planned route is 24 miles in total).

2)  Stop half way for an hour (van goes forward to hour point stop, & collects more food).

3)  Complete second stage to the border of YPRES town proper. (We hold there and do the last stage to the Menin Gate to be there well in-time to parade at the Last Post ceremony).

4)  2030 hours - Dinner, beer & rest (accomodation has been sorted).

SUNDAY, 29th APRIL:

1)  0800 hours - Breakfast & personal / kit admin.

2)  March from ZONNEBEKE to TYNE COT for church parade.

3)  1100 hours - Church parade.

4)  March back to ZONNEBEKE, followed by visits to several other points of interest ...

5)  Drive to DUNKIRK for return ferry to Blighty.

One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

It all sounds very interesting - exciting and educational. Unfortunately I can't make it as I live in the colonies, but I wish you the best of luck and everything you are involved in this 'season'. I wish I could be there. My kids would LOVE it!
