The bag is a haversack for, and contains a Small Box Respirator (SBR).

Gas was a feature of trench warfare in WW1, and SBRs were issued in 1916 to counter the effects thereof...

Glad you like the pics!! ;D

Hey Scrim,

Your pictures have disappeared :o.

Thanks for explaning about the haversack - just wondering, as it's so 'high up' does it get in the way when you bend over?

PS the 'tash looks very suave  ;).

This weekend I shall be at the Military Odyssey at Detling in Kent. I shall be the SMO for the Parachute Field Ambulance, so look for the Airborne Medical Jeep and some tents and Red Berets if any of you find yourself in the area ... ;) ;D

IF I happened to be in Kent this weekend, would you be able to give my daughter a spin in the jeep? She would LOVE this.

Only joking - I'll be on the other side of the world this weekend.

Good luck with it all.

Here we go then...

22 Ind Para (Med)...

And then I was "conscripted" into the Spanish Civil War group La Columna (http://www.lacolumna.org.uk/index.html), actually a really nice group portraying a little known group of British volunteers...

All rounds and shrapnel removed, and RTU'd (returned to unit!). Very little rehab required....In fact he was wounded in both the morning and afternoon sessions...but went back into the line within about 15mins!
