Hi

Thanks for this info.

Would Anne have been Hannah's sister then as they had the same surname?

I have got access to ancestry but wouldnt know what to do to make a change so please feel free to do it.

Thanks

Diane

Hi,

It is not likely that Ann & Hannah were sisters.  The details I posted were from the 1841 Census where
no relationships are stated, however from the ages of the children it certainly looks as if Thomas had taken
a second wife.

My assumption was that his second wife Hannah had previously been married and her three children from
that marriage i.e. Jemima, James & Joseph WALTERS were living with them.  If this is the case then the
maiden name of Hannah is unlikely to be Walters.

You would need to examine the Parish Register for Duffield to see if Hannah Walters is listed as a widow or
spinster when they married in 1837.  You could also see where the Walters children were in 1851 and
from this census obtain information as to where they were born, this may then enable you to discover their
Bpt.

In the 1851 Census HO107/2129 Folio 339 Pg 9 Radford Nottinghamshire
Hannah is 45 states born Ilkeston.

forgot to say - it is actually Elijah not Eliza as on 1851 census is shown as a son.
