Personal Messages

I tried to send a personal message to someone researching the same name as myself and got an error message.  Its said personal message limit reached - does that mean my limit or the person i'm sending to?  What is the limit?  I wasn't aware there was one.  Please could someone explain the rules to me. Thanks

Hi Alison

It isn't likely to be your limit, so if they are new it is likely to be theirs!

You can try replying on one of their threads, if they have posted at all.

The limit is a temporary way of stopping spammers.  We will review it in due course but it has been pretty effective so far.  Sorry about the inconvenience.

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi

Just jumping on board here.

I have recently experienced the same problem as alison300. I deleted a few of my messages and the problem remained. I've just read this post and realise now it's at the other members end. The person I'm trying to contact doesn't have any posts, so I can't attach a message to that. I'm presuming many people like I aren't aware of a limit on PM's, so chances are they won't be deleting their inbox anytime soon. The person I wish to contact hasn't been online for a for a few weeks , so starting a separate post for them in hopes that they see it may not work.

How can I contact them? please

Regards

Hi Lil

Those are the only two options I can think of (PM or new post directed at the person).

I have highlighted the issue for Admin but as mentioned, the limit was put there to deal with a worse issue, so we might have to wait til inspiration strikes for a better solution.

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Thanks Arranroots

I fully understand the need to have control over spam messages. I'll keep an eye out for when they are on line and see if I can strike while the irons hot.  :) ( post while they are online )
