  Hi Dave and Teresa
 I saw your post on rootschat when i was having a bit nosey around.
 I also note that you may well have found the answer to your question as
 it's two years since you posted this message.
 I have an old book containing all the hawick men who fought in WW1.
 In it i found this;
 PRIVATE JOHN OLIVER OF THE 1st K.O.S.B, WOUNDED AT THE DARDANELLES
 ON 11th MAY 1915. HE IS A SON OF MR ROBERT OLIVER, 5 ROUND CLOSE,
 WHO IS ALSO SERVING.;
 or
 PRIVATE JOHN OLIVER OF THE R.A.M.C, AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL FOR
 GALLANTRY IN THE FIELD. ENLISTING IN SEPTEMBER 1914, HE WENT THROUGH
 THE GALLIPOLI CAMPAIGN, WHERE HE WAS WOUNDED. PRIOR TO JOINING THE
 ARMY HE WAS IN THE EMPLOYMENT OF MR ALEX INGLIS, ARCHITECT, BRIDGE
 STREET. PRIVATE OLIVER IS THE ELDEST SON OF MR AND MRS ROBERT OLIVER,
 WELLOGATE VILLA, HAWICK, WHO HAD FOUR SONS WITH THE COLOURS.
 There is another one but it doesn't say his fathers name[He looks a bit older]
 Let me know if you recognise any of these two and i will have another look
 for you. There are more J Olivers but don't think they fit with the description
 you give.
