Here they are

Thomas Pitcher Head  Mar  34  Ag lab   b. Shernbourne
Mary A        "      Wife  Mar   28              b.           "
Deborah     "        dau           6               b.           "
Sulim          "        son            3               b.           "
Thomas      "        son           10mts        b.           "

Living Docking Rd, Shernbourne.

Sulim -- I have never heard of this name but the writing is clear and no matter how I tried to change the letters I always came back to this. I wondered if he his name was Solomn and this was the enumerators attempt????

There are a few other pitcher families in shernbourne would you like their details??

Let me know all the best Angela.

Hi Angela

Many thanks for this.

I really should get Deborah's marriage certificate to confirm her father's name was Thomas, although I doubt there are any other Deborah Pitchers of that age born in Sherborne.

Althought her name on  1881,1891 was Ellen D she did use the name Deborah. Also her birth ref appears to be Deborah. Need to see if I can find a baptism to see where the name Ellen came from.

Sulim's name is transcribed as Selim on 1871 census.

Yes please if it is not too much trouble could I have the other Pitcher's. It may laed to a previous generation.

Thanks

Nina

I've traced this family through the census and I am sure it is the right one as it fits family 'tales'.

Thanks

hi Nina just going through the census now. Will post them within the hour ok. do you want me to track them back in the 1851 and 1841?? It would be no bother as I need a break from my own research or else I might smash my computer. I am glad to look for some different people.

All the best Angela.

Angela

That would be wonderful  if you could.

I've updated my post above - I'm pretty sure it is the right family as some of the names and places on later census are starting to fit with family tales.

According to freebmd I think Thomas married Mary Ann Andrews in 1852.

Regards

Nina

I found a married Robert Pitcher age 28 shepherd lodging with Carter family, Kings Head West Bradenham, Swaffham
No other family with him so I think this is Janes hubby.

There was another Robert age 27 also born in Shernbourne but stated as unmarried he was working as a servant (groom) for Anna Maria Kendall a farmer of 600 acres. Living in Shernbourne

I found a Ann Pitcher 22 b. Shernbourne, unmarried housemaid for John Lambert (shopkeeper)  living Snettisham, Docking

Also found this family

Winifred  Pitcher b. Dunton, Nfk  widow age 54
Thomas   Picher  b. Shernbourne unmarried age 47 farm lab
Maria       Pitcher b. Shernbourne Unmarried age 18 late servant

They were all lodging with the andrews family in shernbourne and no relationship was given between them.

Now thats the 1851 done.
