Baker Family
« on: Friday 18 July 08 11:34 BST (UK) »
Has anyone come across a Frederick John Baker or his father Thomas Robert Baker ? He was in the Connaught Rangers from 1900 and was born around 1883. Thomas Robert was dead by 1915 and had been a solicitor's clerk. I am assuming Galway because of the recruitment catchment for the Rangers 1st Battalion. Any help welcome.

What else do you know? Did both father and son live in Ireland their entire lives? Did both die in Ireland? Where did you get approx date of birth for Frederick?

Have you looked at the distribution of the surname Baker in Griffith's Valuation? See http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/

If you can pin down a townland, you could then search the census of 1901 and 1911 for the family.
