Peart, a real puzzler.
« on: Monday 24 January 05 14:36 GMT (UK) »
I have a total brick wall with my g grandparents b Staffs & Notts, I cant find their marriage or pinpoint his birth but I have Frederick Peart age 1 b Redcar living with them in Hunslet 1881. I have no idea what the connection is as I have found nothing to connect them with either that surname or that area. I would love to find out who his parents are to see if it helps but dont really want to order yet another useless certificate if I can help it. I have found his birth on 1837online:
Frederick William Peart  Guisbro 9d497 Dec 1/4 1879
Please can anyone throw any light on him or offer any help?
Many Thanks

Joan

Hi Joan

I have just looked at the 1881 census (RG11/4489 folio 10 page 13).  Who are your relatives?  The REDMAYNEs or the THOMPSONs?  Or both?

I now know my g grandmother Elizabeth Theaker was Fredericks mother, I assume from a previous marriage. Unfortunately it hasn't helped as I cant find either a Peart/Theaker marriage in 1870's or a Thompson/Theaker marriage! I cant move on with my Thompson line without a MC, any ideas where I can go from here?

Hi Joan

Do you now have a birth certificate for Frederick PEART?  Just wondering what is says ie. was Elizabeth married previously?

Have you found James & Elizabeth on the 1891 and 1901 census?  Do their birthplaces and ages agree with those in the 1881 census?

Dont have BC but phoned nice lady in Guisbro RO and asked her if she could tell me if there was a Thompson or Theaker connection on mothers side. She said mother was formerly
a Theaker and then confirmed it was Elizabeth. I was actually hoping for a Thompson connection :-(
Elizabeth Theaker was still in Notts in 1871 age 17 along with sister Thersa working as servants.
Fred was born Redcar 1879.
1881 She was in Hunslet supposedly Elizabeth Thompson.
Cant find any of them in 1891 tho I do know they had further sons born Workington Cumberland in c 1887 & 1892.
1901 They were in Workington.

Could you please post the full 1901 census details ie. address, names, ages, birthplaces, father's occupation etc.

Then perhaps we can take a/another look at 1891 to see if they can be found

Thanks

James Thompson age 49 blastfurnaceman b Wednesbury, Staffs
Lizzie                   age 46                             b Ranskill Notts
James                         16                             b Hunslet
Henry                          13                            b Workington
Eber                              9                                 "     "
Stanley                         7                                  "      "

As you see there are minor differences but I have found Elizabeth in Ranskill in 1861. Also have Ebers BC and have viewed parish records in Workington and found Eber & Stanleys christenings. Also have Henrys MC in 1914.
Thanks!

Should have added that I bought 1891 census for Cumberland and have looked everywhere in Workington area with no luck. Where they lived in 1892 and in 1914 were adjacent streets.
