Legacy problems

When I try to open my copy of Legacy 5 I get a message

Error opening message file. Invalid argument

I have tried uninstalling the programme, deleting all the database files and gedcom files associated with the programme and all the peripheral programmes such as tree-draw and charting companion, and reinstalling the programme but I still get the same message.

Has anybody got any thoughts about what might be causing the problem and how it might be cured?
