Marriage Cert arrived this morning... :D
On our recent trip to Cobh we were amazed at the size and beauty of Cobhs cathedral, completely unaware of its connection to our family history.

However...they are both noted as 'minors'...
I think they were both under 20 yoa...
Is it a catholic church thing??

The certificate you ordered from GRO is the civil marriage certificate and the details given on the certificate are standardised for all marriages at that time in Ireland (nothing to do with the church they were married in).

Sometimes the age was written in if they were minors otherwise 'full' was given to signify they were of legal age.
Not sure about Irish marriage certificates but in Northern Ireland it was only about 1946 that ages started to be given and then it changed to full date of birth in 1970s.
