Can anyone help solve this mystery???
« on: Thursday 24 July 08 17:54 BST (UK) »
Hey all  :) any help with this would be most welcome.

My paternal Grandmothers maiden name was Amelia Emily Hoare bn 1895 southampton hampshire.
I have found her on the 1901 RG13/1055 census aged 5 living with Emily NORTH not worth, her grandmother.
and have found Emily North, her grandmother on the 1881 census RG11/1207 Folio 28 Page 47  Emily North b1858 salisbury wilts.

She had daughters Minnie, Lilian, and Emily and a son Benjamin. I presume one of the girls was my grandmothers mother, most likely Emily as she is the eldest and my grandmothers middle name was Emily.
That is far as I have got.
Apart from finding Minnie aged 21 and working as a servant in 1901 RG13/1053 the rest of the family seem to have vanished off the face of the earth.

I don't know my Grandmothers fathers name other than it must have been Hoare.
I have trawled through so many Hoares i'm dizzy.
My favourite Hoare to date is Fancy Hoare ;) what a name to give a child!
Anyway, I'm completely stumped! The answer is probably staring me in the face but i'm caught in the same circle of nothingness. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Thankyou all,
something else to work on.
I don't have or know how to access parish, christening records etc. and I don't have a birth cert for amelia emily hoare so I have been groping around the census and bmd's for info. a couple of times I found Emily North snr listed as married, but no husband name or whereabouts. William looks a likely contender as Emily jnr's father and snr's hubby.
I have a miniscule idea that Amelia Emily Hoare may have been illegitimate and raised by her grandma Emily North snr. But if that is the case would she have been given her Fathers surname?
