George Anderson & Ann Rank marriage lookup
« on: Thursday 24 July 08 21:30 BST (UK) »
I'm still struggling with the details of the marriage of George Anderson and Anne Rank, at Christchurch Bridlington Quay on 7 March 1860. This is where Anne's occupation is marked " under her husband's "sailor".

I have checked with the GRO and they say that the " mark is there and they have also been in touch with Beverley Register Office and their copy also has the ".

I would love to see what the original parish register says. Does anyone know where the registers are located and is there a look-up service in that part of Yorkshire?

What is your exact problem with that entry?

If the registrars office have confirmed it appears on the original entry- would you not feel it could just be a clerical error by the person officiating at the wedding as I very much doubt they had female sailors in those days

Were they living at the same address at the time of the marriage?

If so - are ditto marks shown under the address as well
