Hi,
Can anyone tell me the date of marriage of John Farr (born1811, Caistor) and Harriet (no m/s)  (born 1816).
I would be very interested in any info on them.
Thanks
Betty

I can only find one John FARR of Caistor and he was married to Margaret in 1851 and 1861.  The son James 12 gives a link with the 1841 census.

There is a marriage John FARR to Margaret SHEARSMITH 7 May 1834 at Caistor.

There was a Harriett SHEARSMITH bap 1832 - matching the FARR daughter in 1841 ... but her mother was listed as Susan ???

The National Burial Index has no Harriett FARR buried in Lincs 1841-60.

I think the Harriet FARR 25 in 1841 may be a mistranscription.

In case you need these burials ...
John FARR 3 July 1888 (82)
Margaret FARR 13 Dec 1885 (66)

Hi Betty,

Please ignore my suggestion, GeoffE is correct. Sophia on 1841 census aged 7mths born Oct. 1840, has Mother as Margaret Farr .

Marg-aret and Harr-iet could sound similar to census taker.

Hi Trish,

In the 1841 census for John Farr Harriet Farr is aged 25 and John Farr is aged 30. You are quite right that Sophie is aged 7 Mo. There is also a daughter Harriet aged 8 which ties in with what I already have. But I don't see a Margaret Farr.
Have I got this all wrong  I wonder!

Betty

Hi Geoffe,

I've just re-read your reply about Harriet Farr could be a mistranscription. I think the fact that there is a daughter called Harriet threw me. I shall have another look at that and see if I can come up with anything on Margaret Farr.

Thanks again

Betty

Hi Trish,

John Farr and Harriet Bayes can't be the people I'm looking for as their marriage was 1840.  The first child born to John Farr and Harriet/Margaret was Harriet ( b 1833 ) Caistor.

Back to the drawing board but thanks for helping.

Betty

The first child born to John Farr and Harriet/Margaret was Harriet ( b 1833 ) Caistor.

That is an assumption that you are making.  All I think you know is that there was a Harriett aged 8 with them in 1841.

As I said before, perhaps she was the Harriet SHEARSMITH baptised in 1832 (also an assumption).
