Trying to research this family from Middleton area, Lancashire.   Thomas Rothwell  c1798, Oldham, Lancashire, married to Martha Slack 1803 Middleton, Lancashire, children,Adam 1827, John Edward 1833, Elizabeth 1835 and Amelia 1837 all born Middleton.

Here on another message board is a discussion about some people called Rothwell.  Later, it was discovered that Adam Rothwell had drowned in July 1835 in a quarry in Newton-in-Makerfield, Lancashire.  I don't know if any of these are connected to your Rothwells.

Hi,  Have just joined Rootschat and found your query.  I have found a few of your relatives on Lancs OPC website http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Middleton/index.html.  Three of the children were baptised at St. Leonards church (in case you are vaguely interested I was baptised and married there too).

Thanks for this information.  Yes, this is the family John Edward Rothwell was my 2x great grandfather.  Is St  Leonard's a Church of England denomination?

Yes it is C of E and is the oldest church in Middleton.  The link I gave you earlier shows the church in all its glory.
