Marriage John Vaines & Elizabeth Sheldon

Hi All,

I have been searching for the marriage of my 3xgt-grandparents for a long time with no success. John was b.1815 at Wentworth to William & Ann Stenton. Elizabeth was b.1817 at Ecclesfield to William & Ann Woodhouse. Their 1st child was Sarah Ann registered Ecclesfield Dec qtr 1837, she was christened at Hoyland Nether.  So I am trying to find a marriage I think before civil reg began. Have not had any breakthroughs as yet. My line comes from their son Charles who was born in 1853 when they are then living at Hoyland Common.
Here's hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction.

Can you clarify Elizabeth's and John's surnames.  Your Header says 

Marriage John Vaines & Elizabeth Sheldon 

Elizabeth was b.1817 at Ecclesfield to William & Ann Woodhouse

John was b.1815 at Wentworth to William & Ann Stenton

Yes the surname of Sheldon is correct. There is even a grandchild born in 1888 named Sheldon Vaines.

So John was born to William & Ann STENTON but his surname is VAINES

Elizabeth was born to William & Ann WOODHOUSE but her surname is Sheldon

She is too young to have been married before so presumably both her mother and John's mother were married before hence the difference in surnames

Thanks for pointing out that my original post looks strange.
John Vaines was the son of William Vaines & Ann Stenton.
Elizabeth Sheldon was the daughter of William Sheldon & Ann Woolhouse.
I ommitted the fathers' surnames in the original post but these are the correct names.
