Trying to find Robert Vanson
« on: Friday 01 August 08 13:50 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please advise me of how to procede

I am trying to find my details of the birth of my grandfather ROBERT VANSON born in New Zealand abt 1924.

I have no idea who his parents were or unfortunately which part of New Zealand, but I do know he had returned to the UK by 1957 when my father was born.

Have you tried the 'horse's mouth'?

http://www.bdm.govt.nz/

They appear to welcome enquiries.

Hi Yorkshire Rose

Kenny's on to it !    :D   :D   :D

If you are fairly certain that Robert's birth year was around 1924, then go directly to NZ BDM - they will search a year either side of that date (at no extra charge - if they don't find a match).   There is a small additional fee if other years should  need to be searched also.   All details available from their website.

It is recommended (for family history purposes) that you purchase a "printout" (rather than actual certificate).   The printout generally contains more information ... and is also the less expensive option.

Its from an index on the NZSG CD's
ONly basics to lead to more research places.

It says birthplace, HOLLAND, doesn't give years in NZ (Which sometimes they do), PLace FRANKLIN page 91

Franklin is a district, south of Auckland, North Island.

Googling here is an explanation of the info
http://www.geocities.com/somesprisonersnz/germanating/ger2.html

Someone on the list may know where these lists are held, ??at Archives Wellington
