I don't think that Sophia Swallow was the mother, at least of the first two, and probably not of the later two either. The mother was Sophia (Twiddle)

In the period 1856-1881 there's no death registration of a Sophia Bunyan, and there's no subsequent marriage of a Charles Bunyan to a Sophia Swallow.

I don't think that sister in law means that Sophia Bunyan was a Swallow before she married. As Susan Swallow in 1881 was married, her maiden name wasn't Swallow; she merely married a Mr Swallow.  And as Cas has pointed out Susannah Twiddle married William Swallow

So in 1881 Sophia Bunyan née Twiddle was the sister of Susan Swallow née Twiddle

Sylvie - save your £7. There's nothing that I can see that indicates that the first wife Sophia Twiddle died, and that Charles remarried a Sophia Swallow. But if you feel that a belt and braces job is necessary and you're feeling flush then buy one of the birth certs.

I think the confusion was 1881 sister in law was Susan Swallow so they thought the connection was a maiden name of Swallow, when she was already married, as you have pointed out. 

There is enough info on this family, surname is not that common, as a number of them can be, so I would not think the cert was needed, as you say, posters call.

Hello Cas & David ,  i do think now that Charles Bunyan married Sophia Twiddle reading all the info as when i read over again Susan Swallow was married so she must have married a Swallow which i see she did so i am very pleased with all that and what would we do with out rootschat helpers as i wouldn`t have found all that info .   I have Charles Bunyan with wife Sophia on my tree so will add the rest, hooray and thanks to you both for your very kind help.  Much Appreciated.   Regards Gladys   PS Thanks Cas for your post what just came in.
