Glad to help Sylvie... ;)

Check out the IGI bapts for parents, when you have your head around it...most of Wheathampstead is on BVRI, if you need anything confirmed...but nothing for Luton, but there are other Beds parishes, not sure which ones until I look.

Best Wishes

Cas

Hi Sylvie

Beds is usually one of the most straightforward counties to research as virtually all parish registers up to 1812 have been extracted onto the IGI, and many post 1812 records as well, with the BVRI picking up a lot of what's missing from the IGI.

Except Westoning of course, which post 1812 isn't extracted onto either the IGI or BVRI, so to confirm Charles baptism and the marriage of his parents etc you'll need a trip to your nearest LDS Family History Centre to order and view the microfilm.

In 1841 living in Westoning were
William Bunyan 35
Elizabeth 35; Mary Ann 14; Charles 8; William 5; Thomas 3; Susannah 9 mths; all born in Beds

In 1851 Charles was an ag lab in Toddington, age 18 born Westoning. His parents subsequently moved to Luton where they appear in 1861 both born Westoning (Gladys mentioned Stapleing as the birthplace of Elizabeth, but I can't trace this in Beds. Perhaps it was shown in 1851 which I can't find yet!).

I can let you have full census details of William & Elizabeth if you need them

Regards

David

David and Cas;
Sorry if I appear a bit dim (it's been a long day!) but what is the BVRI ?
Thanks for the extra info, I am from Bedfordshire myself albeit a long time ago... I have never heard of Stapeling either.
Kind regards,
Sylvie.

This should explain it, click on link it tells you what records each county holds.  All records are extracted so can be verified against church or such records, so can be trusted.  There are no submitted entries on the discs.

British Isles Vital Records Index or (BVRI)  Available from LDS (Latter Day Saints) or www.familysearch.org
