1901 Census - COMPLETED THANKS TO HEYWOOD AND CAROLEW
« on: Saturday 02 August 08 21:38 BST (UK) »
Could someone please check 1901 census for me for a Jessie Louisa White or a John William White!  From a copy marriage certificate, Jessie Louisa White was 26 in 1927 (married in York).  From freebmd there is a Jessie Louisa White born June quarter 1901 York.  Not sure if this will be too late for 1901 census.  However, father's name is given as John William White - occupation Hotel Waiter.  I realise White is a common name but (bit of a long shot!) it may be that he was a waiter on 1901 census.

If someone wouldn't mind having a look for me, it would be very much appreciated.

With very many thanks.

Zephyr

Hi

The 1901 census was taken on the 31st March.  The only Jessie White b Yorkshire around 1901 was 11 months old and parents were William & Maria.  William was an engine fitter

The free PRO 1901 index shows occupations so you could search for John William and if you find a match - post details on this message and we will have a look for you

Dear Carole & Heywood

Thank you both very much indeed for all the trouble you have gone to.  The marriage from freebmd together with 1901 census looks spot on!  George Toye certainly had a house-full with son-in-law, an uncle and even room for a boarder.  Will now be able to find the Toyes on 1881 census and find out a bit more about the family.

Very many thanks.
