Hi there Bean

That programme on creating your own family crest is called

'BLAZON'

Although I know there is also another one, which is a bit simpler

Hi Chris,

I've found a programme called Blazons - i assume that is the one that you meant? However i can't make it do what i need it too  ???  ???  ???!!!
I get as far as the shield divided into four qurters of the right colours and two of each beast on it in the right colours BUT i can't resize or reposition them and the only fesse option is a bar across the centre of the sheild?
Any advice or names of other programmes that i might be able to try?
Or have i got the wrong programme?

Bean

Hi all,
and in particular Chris... ;)
How refreshing to find that I am not alone in endeavouring to remove the misconceptions associated with Heraldry and genealogy experienced by some of our fellow researchers.
In addition to the excellent advice already given may I suggest a look at      http://www.sog.org.uk/leaflets/arms.html

Hi there Bean

Yes, that is obviously the right programme - but it is such a longtime since I used it, cant really remember how it works.

If I remember correctly, the last time we used it, we got very frustrated with it because it would not do what we wanted.

Still trying to find the other programme we have, but again, it is so long since we used it - dont know where it is.

Sorry for the negative answer

Hi Grandad James

Hey, thanks for that.

It's the wife who is the Heraldry expert (well she is as compared to me, ) she loves to draw arms & crests, she even hand paints them on to material to use as cushion covers etc.

Its just that we both find Heraldry so interesting, and wish that we had lived in that by gone age.

Unfortunately there is no Grant of Arms associated with my name.
