Harriett KAY

I am tracing Harriett Kay b Harriett MACHIN 14.1.1812.
I have her on the 1841 census - address Osborne St. Sheffield Brightside, a widow,29 yr.  with her son James, 6 yr.
Her husband, Peter died in 1841.

On the 1851 census I cannot find her. Has she died?
Her son James is lodging with a family.

On the 1861 census there is a Harriet KAY 48, age could be right but she is listed as unmarried. Would this apply to a widow? Birthplace is Chapletown. I do not have a birthplace for the 1841 census.  Her occupation is Ironstone Filler? in 1861 census.

If I can sort out her whereabouts at census time then I will look for a death.

I would be grateful for any thoughts you may have.

Thankyou Carole, yes a definate possibility that she remarried.
I will try and follow up your suggestions.  She was still quite young.
Just realized this moring that I had posted in North Riding instead of West so will rectify this today.
