At long last I have the death certificate of EMIL PERCY ANDERSON who passed away on 1st July 1957 leaving his second wife, Hannah and five children incliding twins William and Betty. (Note no mention made of the five children still surviving from his first marriage).

Two of the children from his second marriage must have predeceased him.

Could some kind helpful Cantabrian look up the Christchurch papers for his death notices - probably 2nd, 3rd and 4th of July 1957. We can then start on the journey to locate missing cousins..

Hi don will try and get to the library on Wednesday and have a look for you.  Do you have the name of the cemetery he was buried in.  If so I can have a look for you. Do you know the names of the children that may have predeceased him?

Thank you for that. It's much appreciated. He was cremated at Bromley Cemetery on 4th July 1957.

Emil was my mother's father and when his first wife died in 1924 he had the children farmed our and eventually remarried and lost contact with his first five children The children from his second marriage we only know of by inuendo and rumour - these are our lost uncles and aunts, so anything you can find from the death notices will be most helpful in putting in quite a few pieces of our family jigsaw.

I will have a look and see between 2 and 4 July 1957 for the death notice.  If you like I can email the crematorium. It is called the Canterbury Crematorium and is privately owned.  I did not find him at the Bromley cemetery.

Will let you know what I find.

Many Thanks, everything well received and the info fills in a lot of gaps in our information. My cousins and siblings will be most impressed.

 Hope I can be of help to you one day. Rootschatters are helpful are they not. Many of my ancrsters are from Scandanavia and Roots chat's sister site Norway Heritage has been very helpful in wading through the maze of family names. Emil's mother was from Norway and his father from Sweden. My father's father was Danish. But we are Kiwis from a long way back, some go back to the 1860s
