Hi Bennett,
Have you followed Louisa forward and backwards through the censuses ? Sometimes you can find other relatives with them (you probably know that already !!! ;D), but that would be my next move. Louisa I think is living with her mum Ann in Watchet, St Decuman in 1871, if I have found the right one, and Robert has died as Ann is a widow. There is a James Webber living in West Street (in the St Decuman parish too), but have followed him through the censuses, and although he has a son William, he is with him, unmarried in 1881, so not your one.
Also, if William was a bachelor when he married, I'll keep going through the 1871 censuses to try to find him!
Sorry I can't be of more help,
haliared

Hi haliared,
I have followed Louisa through the census, also that her mother Ann was a widow,
I have only recently received the marriage cert of her and William Webber,
shock horror, ::) when his father was listed as James, and not William also. :'(

So obviously have not looked for a James (YET),its annoying that my Ancestry has expired, just when I needed it. :'(

Yes William was stated as being a bachelor on m.cert.

I know his Widow,Louisa had moved to Plymouth by the next census
1891,leaving 3 of her children with relatives in Minehead, and taking the other 2 with her,one of which was my darling grandmother.
t is William that I am really stuck on, as having James listed as his father, ::)
has really thrown a spanner in the works,(so to speak) :P

Thank you for all your help and time on this,so very much appreciated,
your a star. :D

Hi Bennett, I know this is a long shot as your post was 4 years ago! But I think we are related!
I'm a novice at this geneoligy stuff so please bear with me.
Captain William Webber of the Kelso was my greatgrandfather, my grandfather was William Robert Webber, tailor from Minehead.
If it's of interest to you I have an original oil painting of the Kelso, handed down through the family.

Hi Arrdubya,
Oh my word, this is a surprise,a pleasant one at that. ;D
I see this is your first posting, and welcome to Rootschat.
I am not sure if I sent you a private message, you will be able to reply,
I think you have to make three postings.
I will continue on here, until we can make a more private communication.
The information you have put does indeed seem as if we share the same ggrandfather.
Your Grandfather William Robert Webber, and my Grandmother, would have been brother and sister.
How exciting, ;D ;D
cant wait to hear from you.

Kind regards
Bennett

Hi Bennett, I can't reply to PMs as yet, but I've read them! Yes Hugh W Webber was my father, died in 1997, my mother Margery nee Squire, is still very much with us at nigh on 98 years old. My father's parents were indeed Willam Robert Webber & Jane Graddon Smith of Holloway St. Minehead.
What part of the world are you from? I live in Worcestershire.

Hi Arrdubya,
It is so ironic, that only this week found out about Hugh Webber, being their son,
when I found William and Jane on the 1911 census, there was no children.
So I thought that was another dead end I had come to.
I do know that William, and some of his sisters were split up,
some stayed in Minehead, some came to Devon.
If you can read the private messages,I will send you my direct email address,if thats ok.
This makes us 2nd cousins I guess.
Whooo,Im so excited.
Will message you now,put a post on here,so I know you have received it.
Rootschat has helped me so much with finding my family.

Speak soon.
