Dines Family of Killinchy
« on: Thursday 07 August 08 01:48 BST (UK) »
HI Everyone

I am looking for information on the Dines Family of Killinchy, County Down.

George Dines (Bailiff) married Mary Hennesy before 1841, probably in the Presbyterian Church.

Of their children, all I have so far is Margaret born c 1841.

      I would appreciate anything.

                                                      Kim

Lots of Dines/Dynes here including mention of a George in Killinchy in 1863:

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Try the PRONI website,    www.proni.gov.uk/
It's got a few Killinchy Dines signing the 1912 Ulster Covenant.

Dixie

PS.  Griffiths Valuations has a George Dines residing,  Ballydorn, Killinchy.

That guy has already been mentioned 8) There's at least on person named Dines who is connected with Killinchy Presbyterian Church. You could try contacting her via the church http://archives.tcm.ie/downdemocrat/2007/01/25/story2692.asp

I've linked this thread to the Killinchy area lookup please thread  http://tinyurl.com/6rpeqs

Hi Oz Kim
Margaret Dines married Thomas George in 1861 as Dixie says above.  They migrated to Australia in 1864 aboard the Queen of the Colonies after the birth of their first son Thomas in 1863.
I'm descended from their daughter Margaret who was one of ten children.
I have lots of information about the family if this is the same Margaret you're interested in.

Oz Kim,..Hi Kim,..... George Dines and Mary Hennesey are my 3 times grandparents. Interestingly George is purported to have been a Bailiff in the Ballydorn / Killinchy area....so maybe not to popular  I have been trying to trace him back for a number of years. I suspect that he may have attended the Church of Ireland  and not a pressy church. Strangely enough and by sheer coincidence I am presently trying to confirm that information through PRONI . Will  advise when I get a reply from them ...and yes I also live in Australia. Will stay in touch. Dan
