1871 Census look-up - JERSEY
« on: Sunday 10 August 08 17:28 BST (UK) »
Hi there

Could anyone do a lookup for
EDWARD SCHOFIELD born IRELAND about 1833
SUSAN     SCHOFIELD        IRELAND  about 1835
EDWARD                            IRELAND            1857
ELIZABETH                         GIBRALTAR
JAMES                                GIBRALTAR
SUSAN                               GIBRALTAR

They had a son PETER JOHN born JERSEY 1870/71

I have not been able to account for this family on any census except 1881 onwards, in England.

Thank you

Bash

Hi

Nothing in 1871 but I notice from the 1881 that they had also been in Gibralter and Malta as well as Ireland which may be why you can't find them in earlier censuses

No children on the 1881 were born in England

Hi Carole

I was hoping that the family would appear on the 1871 census as PETER was born there.

I thought maybe EDWARD was in the navy as the children are born on islands, and I have tried NATIONAL ARCHIVES to look for him, with no success so far.

Regards

Hi

He is 10 on the 1881 so could have been born mid - 1870 which would mean he was 10yrs old mid-1880 and still 10 when the census was taken on 2nd April
