Looking for Sumners in the Ormskirk / Walton on the Hill regions, namely Lathom, Chorley, Burscough and Formby
Wanting to confirm
siblings of Richard Sumner b 1797 Lathom, Ormskirk (to parents John Sumner, (Farmer) & Mary Sumner (likely nee Sherrington)
Richard Sumner became a surgeon & apothecary and served the Formby area between 1820 and 1880. He died in 1884
Richard married Jane Tunnell from Scarborough Yorkshire in Dec 1819. They had 9-10 children. At least 2 sons emigrated to Australia. Thomas Richard (to South Australia) and Henry to Port Phillip (Victoria)
Jane died in 1855
Richard married Sarah Winstanley from Liverpool in 1857
Richard was awarded Gold and Silver medals from the Royal Humane Society and the Liverpool Shipwreck Society for his involvement in the rescue of persons shipwrecked on Pilot Boat No 1 "The Good Intent". 13 of the 22 on board perished
