Help please 1841/51 completed thank you
« on: Wednesday 13 August 08 04:43 BST (UK) »
OK here goes.

I have a Sarah Edith Foskett married to James William Vint Bull.
Sarah (seems to have used "Edith") born abt 1811 - Shoreditch (Foskett)died 1869 -Shoreditch
James William Vint Bull born abt 1804 - St. Giles Cripplegate.(?death prior possibly to 1851)
They married in 1830 St. Giles Cripplegate
Their last child, Emmeline Julia Bull was born 1847, St. Luke Old St. London(all the children were)
Now I am unable to find them on the 1841 and 1851 census.
I am assuming James died prior to the 1851 census as their two boys, Edwin 13 yrs and William 15 yrs were with their grandparents in St. Luke Old Street on the 1851 census.
Grandparents were Henry and Sarah Foskett
Now the girls married and I have that but I cant trace the boys, girls or mum on the those first two census.
On the 1861 census I have Edith Bull and the children but Bull is down as Youle.

I would be delighted if someone could assist me with this.    Many thanks.

Hello, Sue,

I also found the 1851 census transcibed as Buce by entering the name Emmeline no surname with DOB & POB.  Tried the same thing with the 1861 census but had no luck.

I have found the followig that might be useful

Death
James Bull age 61
Sept. ¼ 1867  Holborn  1b 371

James Bull age 66
Dec ¼  1871  Holborn  1b  577

Sarah Edith Bull  age 57
Dec ¼ 1869  Shoreditch  1c  131

I also checked  Colman St St Lukes in the 1841 census but could see no Family Bull
HO107/668  bk 3  folios 21-23

Many thanks Annette and Meliora,

I have been looking for over a year and you both are correct.

Meliora, I thought  James had died earlier than he obviously did - so  the two deaths for him are fantastic.  That is the correct death for Sarah Edith.

The 1851 census is them for sure.  Thank you so much Annette.

Thank you both for the time and assistance.  XX Sue

Hi Sue,
I have just come across your query regarding James William Vint Bull. Although your original enquiry has been answered I believe we may be related through his daughter Mary Maria Bull who I believe married William Alexander Platt in 1857 in Islington. William Alexander Platt is my 2 x Great Grandfather, his son James Alexander Platt brn 1871 had a son James William Platt brn 1901 who in turn had a daughter Eileen Vera Platt, my mother.

If any of this fits in with your own research I would be most interested in hearing from you.

Hi Mike,
What a pleasant surprise.  Mary Maria Bull was my 2nd Great Aunt
William James Platt was my 1st cousin 2x removed
My paternal grandmother was Clara Beatrice Bull and through her side we went back to Vint family etc., Clara married William Leonard Taylor and their only child was my father, Charles Horace.
He married Mary Ann Webb and they packed up in London and brought their four children to Sydney in 1961. Here we remained.
I am the youngest and only daughter.  Sadly both parents and my eldest brother have now passed but three of us are still alive and kicking!
I havent thought about RootsChat in years so thank you stirring my interest again.  I didnt get to Vera your mum because living so far away I have to rely on Ancestry and as we know there is not much info on living people.  Happy to assist a distant cousin if I can. All the best, Susan
