« on: Friday 15 August 08 04:22 BST (UK) »
Hello
I am trying to track down a marriage record for Patrick Kelly and Catherine Hartnett in Limerick during 1840-1842.  This is all the information I have. Is anyone able to assist me?

Thanks!!

Kelly is such a common name in Ireland that it would be very difficult to research - you'd be knee deep in them!

Hartnett on the otherhand is less common and additionally, couples usually married in the Bride's parish - so it is worth checking that out carefully.

There were a lot of Hartnett families listed in Limerick at the time of Griffiths Valuation c. 1850.  As only the Head of the Household was listed, I'd hope to find Catherine's Mother or Father listed.  Do you happen to know their names?

As a huge percentage of these Hartnett families were in living in either Abbeyfeale or Killeedy parishes - I would check out any records for those area first, if only to eliminate them.

Did Catherine have any brothers that you know of?  Could any of these have been named after her father?

Cheers

Thankyou so much. Luckily I do know the parents names - they were Daniel Hartnett and Mary Connell (maiden name).

I believe Catherine & Patrick Kelly also had a child while in Limerick, 'John' Kelly who was born in 1851 before they emigrated to Australia.

Hi Caroline

You might like to have a look at this 'Irish Family History ' site. It's free to register and search but 5 euros to view each record - which could be very expensive if you don't have the right one!
You could try selecting the different parishes to see if any names match up.

Also this Griffiths Valuation site for Limerick might help - there are quite a few Hartnetts including Daniel Hartnett in Knockbrack parish and Port parish.-maybe some others there too.
Again ther's no way of telling if it is your Daniel Hartnett but may be of some help if you find out any other information.

Hi , Do you have the information for the Patrick Kelly, Lissaleen, Croom, Limerick on hand, Zelda

You can search Griffith's Valuation here for him
https://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=placeSearch
but it's a land valuation so won't give you any family information.
