Hi Jan

Although you have scanned this at 300 dpi it is still a very small and difficult photo to work on.
If possible could you rescan this at 600.1200 dpi - the higher the better
This would give the restorers the best chance of a better final product

Saying that I have had a go and improved it a little

Please scan all photographs at 300-600 dpi.
Please feel free to colour/modify any restores posted by me.
An acknowledgement would be much appreciated.

Hi Jan

Certainly no need for appologies

When you scan a photo/picture the scanner software has a facility where you can change the resolution
It depends on the make of scanner where you can find this, but usually on the settings
The higher the resolution the more dpi you can get
The more dpi you can get - the easier it will be to restore

There is a scanning 'sticky' (by Cazza59) on the opening page :-

Hopes this helps
