Parish Reg. Baptism Look up please - GRIST

Does anyone have access to PENTRIDGE Dorset parish records? If so I should appreciate baptism details for  Jane Grist born Pentridge approx Nov 1818. This may be incorrect as I checked an online source which could only supply a birth on 3/12/1820 with a mother as Jane ( single woman) My Jane had father William Grist labourer on her marriage cert. I'd love to find out who her parents were and if she had siblings.

Thank you for replying. Jane Grist married George Rose both of full age 4th dec 1843 in The Parish Church of Alderbury Wiltshire. Both were servants and she lived in Alderbury at the time of her marriage. As I said her father was a labourer, William Grist. The 2 witnesses were Thomas Grist and Lucy Grist. I suspect that he was her brother as he is in the 1851 Alderbury census b. Pentridge. Jane is age 42 in 1861 census living in West Grimstead Wilts, married to George which gives her birthplace as Pentridge. I have confirmation from other family that she was born in Pentridge. She died in 1885 and is buried in Stockbridge Hants.. I hope this is of help. I have looked up many people in Parish Reg.s so know how time consuming it can be. If you can help it will be terrific!

hmmmmmmmm looking at the penkridge parish records i see this -
thomas grist bapt 25th may 1804 mothers name listed as jane grist no father listed
william grist bapt 19th feb 1807 mothers name listed as jane grist no father listed
no jane grist baptised in penkridge the only jane bapt around that time showing on the BIVRI VOL 2 is this ome-
jane grist bapt 24th feb 1820 fordington dorset.mothers name listed as jane grist no father listed.
maybe your family moved from penkridge to fordington?

24 Feb 1820  Jane baseborn daughter of Jane Grist, Pentridge and a prisoner in Dorchester Gaol.

Thank you Alli and Nanny Jan. I can only find a Jane Grist in 1841 census age 21 living Sturminster Newton Castle Dorset as female servant so I have no entries for her with her family which is why I have a problem tracking her down. I found a Jane Grist d of Jane  single woman born PENTRIDGE 3/12 1820 courtesy of FFHS site. I still do not know why she would make up a name for her Father in her marr. cert if she was the product of a single Mum. I thought that marriage entries were treated pretty seriously which leads me back to her Father named as William on her marr. cert.  She is age 66 in 1865 yr. of death, makes her birth 1819 and the 1871 census says she was 52 which makes 1820 as her birth yr. It all seems a bit inconclusive. Nice of you both to try.

If she married somewhere other than her "home" parish then she could just make up a name for her father (to spare the blushes!); nobody would question her.
