You helped me once before with 1861 census looking for Fanny Symes
and i am wondering if you would be able to explain how you used that website -as i went to it but couldn't find any Fanny Symes?
How did you do it
 
The thing is I wanted to see if there is another Fanny Symes on the census, or a family with Priscilla and Samuel Symes as the parents.
Why am I not finding names and you are!!
Can i have your tips please!

Hi Emma,

I sent ou this as a PM, before seeing that you had gone "public", so I will put my answer here as well, in case it helps anybody else:

go to the Dorset OPC home page www.dorset-opc.com

you then have two possibilities:

1)
- page down to a parish you are interested in
- click on that parish. You will get a short description, a few photos and a list of available resources.

2)
- click on "search this site"
- enter any words you are searching for e.g. "fanny symes 1861"
- select "Find ALL words"  <==  this bit is important !
- press search !


that was it, if you do that, you're doing exactly what I did !

ps: Incidently, the search engine is EXACT, it will only search for your exact input. Try SIMMS or SIMES as well, as it doesn't do soundex searches.
