I have a Degenhardt in my family too.
Louisa Anna Lucy  DEGENHARDT b 1886 Murtoa Victoria- Parents Carl August  Gustav DEGENHARDT and Anna Maria Emilie ANDERS .
Louisa m Amil KIEFEL in 1907 Horsham Vic.
They had 2 children.
Carl and Anna also has another daughter Lillian Grace DEGENHARDT b 1887 Murtoa.

Dear Pinker,

My information comes from my mother's cousin who told me that August and Lina had 4 children.

 August was employed at the Burra mines in South Australia.  I have  a name from the shipping list on the" Patel " with  a Augustine Alwine Henriette Barth b. 1823. I assume she is Lina Barth.

Augusta b. unknown
Carl. b 1863
Sophie Ann b. 31/05/1869. (when Lina was 46?)

Sophie was my maternal grandmother's mother.

Hi I am new to RootChat, but I think that I am also a descentdant of this family.  My Gt Grandfather was William Charles Degenhardt born 2 July 1882.  His father was Robert, born May 1854. Robert's father was a Louis Degenhardt who was married to Lina Kotte.  I think that Louis is a descendant of the family who came out on the George Washington.  If you or anyone else can help me with information on Louis Background or any information regarding William, I would be really grateful.  I do know that William was married twice and changed his name to Fisher in about 1930, but I have not been able to find any death records of either name.

I am not spotting much on Louis. I haven't found an arrival - His wife seems to be recorded by different name variants in the birth indexes. I do not see the marriage.

By what I can see in a extract from The Advertiser 15 May 1895 (The article has not yet been digitised) but it it looks like possibly an In Memorium for Louis which has been published by Robert.
