Cheshire Records Office
« on: Wednesday 27 August 08 10:15 BST (UK) »
If anyone is visiting Cheshire Records Office I would be grateful if they had chance to look for the burial of a James Cooper Lewis who died 12/3/1917.  He is definately not in any of the cemetaries as I have checked this out so must be in a churchyard.  He lived in Tranmere and was CofE religion.  I am not sure of the area so don't know which churches would be likely.  He was married to Emily Lewis and he was aged around 62 when he died.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Aadhirst - Welcome to Rootschat.

If you send an e-mail to the Cheshire Records Office, they might look the burial up for you without charge.  They have searched for my OH's ancestors in Parish Records (which I'm sure must be more difficult) and e-mailed him copies of the three appropriate entries all for free.  They have now said if he wants more information he'll have to pay which is reasonable, especially as he was prepared to pay originally.
