Unknown Family group
« on: Friday 29 August 08 21:04 BST (UK) »
This postcard was sent to an unknow recipient.  It is in the possesion of my father in law who is a decendant of the Fagan Family.  The young girl in the photo I believe is Rose Ann Fagan who marreid Robert Carruthers in 1915 - this is talked about in the postcard.  I am unsure who the other people are.  The other facts which are talked about match what I know that Edward Fagan served in Eygpt and Patrick was injured and was hospitalised.  If anyone can shed any further light on the photo it would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Claire

This looks very much a family photo. The young man sitting with his arm over the
woman's shoulder is her son,not only because of the familiarity but they also look alike.
This picture looks about WW1 & the flowers denote some sort of occasion.
The daughter's wedding perhaps with bride,groom,mother & 2 sons.

Just read the back, can't be her marriage as this was taken 2 1/2 years prior to sending but
it looks like someone's wedding, perhaps the young man sitting. There seems to be
3 boys mentioned the other being Bert.So are the 2 older boys Edward & Bert & the young lad Patrick & the photo taken 1912-13.So have you looked for a marriage for Edward or Bert at this time.

Thanks for all that it is great.  Edward got married in 1909.  Patrick was born 1894 so I have always thought that the youngest child looks too young.  The the other son in the family is Michael and he was born 1889.  We have photo's of Michael and I am not sure that he is the other brother.  I have not found any Bert in the family.  Do you think it could be aprt of the Bride's family?

The cleaned photo looks great thank you

Here are two other photos of the Fagan family.  The couple are Micahel with his wife Elizabeth nee Holberry.  The other we believe shows Edward in an army hospital.  As you loook at the picture he is on the back row on the far right hand side.

Thank you for that it looks great.  Can you do anything with the war time photo?  It may help to see the man I have been told is Edward more clearly.  I think there are some family resemblances going on but I'm not very good with spotting these things.

Thank you for the clean ups

I have just read the original writing on the postcard again to see if it makes anymore sense.    I think the second side says
"Edward is in Eygypt, Patrick in Manchester Hospital, but ???came home last fr?? Sallie is in Keswick and Rose Ann is hopeful to get married  ??fortnight or so ?soon Hoping Mickie and you keeping well."

If Mickie is Michael then that would indicate that maybe he has left Workington and is now is Manchester?? Maybe the card is to his future wife Elizabeth.  He didn't marry her however until 1919.  Am I naive to think that they wouldn't be living together at that time withour causing a great scandal?  He was discharged from the army after 66 days and so didn't see any active service!  But that appears to be another story.  (Aren't they all!)

Sorry to be rambling on a little but this postcard has been really bugging.  Why did someone have to trim off the edges!!!

Anyway if anyone has any brighter ideas, I'm sure you do please let me know!!
