census lookup please

Hi,

looking for a Mary Ann, born about 1840 in Wantage Berkshire.
All I know she married a William Halls (b. Chigwell Essex about 1851) between 1871 and 1881.
They were married census 1881 living in Paris Ramsgreave Lancashire.
Don't know her surname, realise that this could be a though cookie to crack.

So maybe the 1871 census can tell us if she was still living in Wantage. At least the 1851 census could provide that information (and therefor her surname).

Any help grately appreciated.

Without a surname there is no chance - perhaps if she had a very unusual christian name but not Mary Ann.  How would you know it was the right one??

The 1871 has 3 Mary's b Wantage 1840 - all married

Suggest you take either of the following actions:

Check for a marriage between William Halls and a Mary Ann

If they had any children, a copy of one of their birth certs will give her maiden name
