Can you clever people do anything with this??

Hi, this is a photo of my husbands grandmother.  I think it is taken during her time working at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.  Can anything be done with it to make it any clear.  It seems to have taken a battering over the years.

Well I gave it a shot but a lot of mess there.
I didn't want to guess what the faces looked like so just tidied as best I could.
