I must add that i stumbled on this wonderfull site by chance at Bygones.co.uk (A Colwyn Bay Site) not only have i found very helpfull people on it, it has given me a chance to help quite a few other people(including a Lady in France)which gives me great satisfaction. As i am trying to do this on very limited recourses(again personal timing wrong)this site is a breath of fresh air.

Hello Dai

Do you subscribe to any online census sites, etc. If so you can put the ref in the appropriate 'boxes' and get up the census page.

Have you got Evan and Mary listed on the 1891 census at all? If not, where do you think that they were living?

This might help us find where Mary was born.

Regards

sorry William - I'd typed all this out so I posted it  :)

Thats great thanks, yep i have been using Ancestry for a long time(never had the money to get full membership but spent 4/5 times the cost on searches with them, also got the latest Family Tree Maker sponsored by them, bought my original in 1998)gave up on the  1901 site when their search showed Shop Ucha results 1861/71/81 but would not open, they kept blaming my pc even after i explained i could get 1901 results to open! and my vouchers ran out before they answered me,i have tried most of the available sites in the last 2 years but still waiting for most of them to catch up with their advertising promises,Ancestry is great because it is always updating and you can do the same search a couple of months later and get a result you couldn't get before.
Back to the case in hand not been able to find them on the 1891 census but the 1901 (Tan y Coed Lodge Old Colwyn) shows her born Merioneth Corwen (40yrs old) (Oh and we give our longevity away when we can remember the Beatles as a reference,i keep my hair a lot shorter now whats left)

From the birth place of Hannah it looks as if they were in Colwyn (? Old) in 1891.

Not found them yet - I wonder if they're indexed as Jones  :-\

i Think her and Mary my Nain were possibly both born at Tan y Coed, it was at a time when they were moving the county boundaries around. Hughes is Evans family name, the Jones part is possibly from an "occurrence" i have noticed on the 1861 census and it looks like he only started to use Jones Hughes from his wedding date.

Oh dear, Dai

These Jones and Hughes families of ours aren't very kind to us are they  :-\

I've tried the 1891 on two sites now - just using Evan but so far I've not found anything like them  :(
