marriage pre 1837
« on: Thursday 04 September 08 14:52 BST (UK) »
Hi, My 3xgreat grandparents were John and Elizabeth Hogarth, living in Liverpool from the 1941 census.  As they were married pre 1837, is there any way I can find out what Elizabeth's maiden name was.  Thanks

What I did was order a birth certificate for one of their children.

Did thay have Any Children on the 1841 Census ?

As Mab Said You could always Get one of the Birth Certs Of Children Born After 1837 This should Give Elizabeths Maiden Name

Hope this Helps

Hi Iria,  in the 1841 census, their eldest child was 12 so dont think it was the 1837 marriage.   Their son George was 1 in 1841, will just have to try and distinguish him from all the other George Hogarths.  Will have a good look.  Thanks very much.  Kassi

Hi Kassi

What was the address in 1841? If on the outskirts of Liverpool you will have to check West Derby as well.

That said, I can only find one George Hogarth in West Derby in Jun (qtr) of 1840. None in Liverpool. You can reduce the loss to £3 by specifying the parents first names.

Hi ken, just tried that , I made the mistake of stating"Liverpool" as place of birth.    it was in fact W Derby, as you said.   I think i've cracked it.
  Many Thanks Kass
