Help with DAVIES family please
« on: Thursday 04 September 08 21:50 BST (UK) »
Going through my Davies line (well, one of them!) and trying to tidy up some confusion:

I have:

Birth cert - George Davies, 26 High St, Rhymney (Bedwellty, MON) 26 Feb 1908; parents George Davies and Mary Ann, maiden name Williams

Marriage cert - George Davies and Mary Ann Williams, 12 Sept 1901; both give address as Sun Row, Rhymney. George gives age as 22. George's father is named as JAMES DAVIES, a colliery surface labourer.

Here's where I get confused...

I've looked on the 1901 census, and the only family I can find even vaguely right is with an IOWERTH DAVIES, gaffer on top of pit, son George is 19 (not 22!), living at 26 High Street (where George Junior is born in 1908)

Are these the same family or am I missing something? Could Iowerth have been miscopied as James at some point?

Thanks for any help on this one!
