Baptism about 1748 ~ supposing he was 21 at time of marriage . 
PAR 252/1/1/5 covers 1744-1766
PAR 252/1/1/3 covers 1684-1744

You have already helped me...so put me at the bottom of the list after everyone else

If he was baptised in Bolney I think I would have picked him up on my previous foray into the transcripts but will check again for you.

Hi Jan, Sorry I didn't realise you'd already looked that far back.
I would appreciate a second look, if he died in 1793 it's possible that he could have been born a good bit earlier  ~ unless my maths are up the swanie

ADDED ~ Jan I think i'm sending you on a wild goose chase with this one.
I just re-checked the SMI and my Thomas m Sarah King is the earliest marriage in Bolney for a Picknell, the only other early marriage is his 2nd to Sarah Barnes.  So it's looking increasingly likely that he was from up the road in Cuckfield.

The transcripts were indexed so I just looked for any Picknell - however not sure how far they went back. Will check them and the fiche next time I go.
