"If there are two baptisms for a Thomas one in 1740 and another in 1743 it looks to me as though the Thos died 1742 could be the first one and soon after Mary has another son and calls him Thomas."

I would think this is highly likely but the lack of 'infant' or 'son of' made me wonder if he was an adult -  can't recall whether other burial entries said this, will check another time. I have an instance in my family where two living children definitely had the same name, so it would be worth bearing this in mind. I didn't spot any baptisms for this couple after 1743.
