1932 address (19 Michael St.) would have been in a town. There is a Michael St. in Kilkenny- google "Michael St. Kilkenny" and several addresses come up.

Easiest thing would be to order his death certificate which should give exact place of death.

Good for you aghadowey.

That will save Casalguidi sending messages to An Post and the Garda Síochána in Kilkenny.

After death certificate confirms date and place the next step would be to check local newspaper for an obituary- both the little death notice inserted by family and possibly a larger werite-up which might make mention of whether or not he had a local connection.

Thankyou both - that's really helpful :)

Would it be costly (if indeed possible with the information given) to try and find a death/burial.

Is this possible for a non descendant and, if so, any idea of the procedure/cost, from abroad?

Ordering a death certificate is easy but harder to find burial place. Irish death certificates do not list place of burial and sometimes newspaper obituaries do not list it either. A daily newspaper will be more likely to do so but a smaller weekly paper not always because often funeral is past by the time paper comes out.

Hi Casalguidi,

I've never ordered death certificates so I first looked at How to Order Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates and then phoned the General Register Office, Government Offices, Convent Road, Roscommon to ask about the procedure and was told the charge for a certificate is €10. which includes everything. I'm not certain why €12.70 euro is mentioned in the link ... I made a second call to double check and was informed that ten euro is definitely the cost which may be paid either by cheque or by credit card.
