My 4xgreat grandfather, Isaac Pearson, Esq., was co-owner with a Joseph Straker of the Tyne shipbuilding company

He also was 1 of 3 co-owners of Brancepeth and Beechburn collieries with Joseph

He also was in business with a Joseph Straker in Sth Shields. Timber merchants

Seeing that my Isaac was born in 1768/9, i would expect that it's more likely to be your Joseph's father though
