this photo was taken circa 1944/1945 at littlecote House in wiltshire.

could be a tank regiment? could be an amoured regiment?

I am intrested in the men on the bikes, if anyone has any information relevant to this photo or recognises a relative in the picture please post a message

hi shaw1234,

just been trying to find any information on the bikes for you, but after about two hours ive come up with exactly 0!!  i thought there would be some information as the no's are clear enough but i cand find any sites that have vehicle info, im not to hot on searching!! maybe someone like annie could have a go, there must be some lists somewhere that give details of vehicles!

maybe if you could get a better scan of the badges it would help some of the top spotters here to get a reg. id, my best guess is the R.A.S.C  on the R,hand rider, but i think theres more than one badge present.

good luck......hope someone smarter than me gets their finger in your pie! ;)

thanks chris

unfortunately this is the best i can do with the scan, if i try to enlarge the badges they just become blurred.

I am curious though about this so called vehicles list.... that could turn out to be be very useful....quite alot of people have pondered over this picture and still it  remains a bit of a mystery.

Hi,
I may be wrong but the bikes  look like the ex WD Arial 350 cc Despatch Riders Motor Bike I bought in 1956 for £15.00 resplendent in its rust and green camo paint. I couldnt afford the £12pound 10 shillings to replace the girder front forks with teles from Pride and Clark's so I sold it after about 6 months. I wish I still had it now! Good luck with your search
                                                                       Regards Rog.
I hope the pic isnt cc. Mine wasnt as good as this restred classic by a long way.

thanks rog

this is the first piece of new information about this photo in about 18 months,
If i could only identify the regiment, i'd be well on the way to discovering the identities of the mystery men!!!
