Marriage lookk up please

6 Dec 1867 Marriage of George ROSS and Margaret MUNRO
[Statutory Marriages 136/00 0002]at New Spynie. What is the 'Usual Residence'?
I can't make out the first name of George's father, and it looks like the Family name is not ROSS but 'Rofs'?? George's mother also looks like Margaret 'Rofs', and then last but not least - is he Maiden surname IOUGH ??

Hi,
Would you be able to scan or crop the relevant part so that we can see it?

Rofs I think would be Ross...sometimes what looks like an "f" is a capital "s" or also, "f" was used instead of "s". Maiden Surname could be Tough but it would be better to see it to be certain

Hi Elaine,
definitely agree Rofs is Ross - very standard form of script.  Odd that the writer used both formats - I've not seen that before on one document.

Merilyn,
usual residence is Newton, New Spynie - compare letters and other words.

Still working on dad's first name.
mum's surname looks tough  ;D
